All of our Bolga Baskets are hand-woven by the Women’s Cooperatives Association from the northern region of Ghana, Africa. The art of weaving is a traditional skill developed over many years to create beautiful baskets out of locally grown straw. This straw is then hand dyed and woven into unique patterns and shapes. The Bolga Baskets are inherently sturdy, reliable, and multifunctional and with the purchase of each basket you improve the living conditions of these women and their families.

The Oval Bolga Basket measures approximately 10” wide at handles, 17” long from end to end and has a depth of 10”. The handles are tightly secured with woven leather and the colors of this basket are typically golden yellow, deep green or blue, and orange or maroon. However, please be aware that these measurements and colors may vary slightly as these are each hand made.

These baskets are shipped with one side caved in to minimize dimensional size, which reduces the shipping charge. However, to reshape the basket, soak the non-leather parts in cold water for half a minute, shake off the excess water and allow it to dry naturally in a cool area.
