COASTAL SCENTS HELPS IN AFRICA

PROJECT OVERVIEW

Four years ago, Coastal Scents partnered with the Sekaf Shea Butter Village in Kasalgu to produce high quality, all natural skin care products while offering benefits to the families who live and work there. Through the hard work and dedication of American volunteers and continued support from Coastal Scents, the Nuna Village Cooperative was established in 2008. This cooperative project was started to give rural Ghanian women an opportunity to supplement family income and enhance their self-reliance through employment.

Through Project Ghana, Coastal Scents works to market Nuna products and supply fair wages, while providing important income opportunities to women with very few alternatives. Through this partnership Coastal Scents has sponsored an annual health insurance program, whereby over 1500 women have their National Health Insurance premiums paid. Coastal Scents will continue to support the efforts of the Nuna Village Cooperative and remain a primary seller of Nuna Village products.
